WHO WE ARE

About Us

Launched in 2026, the Massachusetts Payer-Provider Partnership (MP3) was founded in recognition of the growing affordability and access challenges patients are facing – as well as the enormous financial pressures that health systems, hospitals, and health plans are navigating as they strive to maintain world-class services.

Local policymakers, business leaders, and state agencies have long underscored the urgency of these challenges. MP3 is a response that will serve a common and local interest – all while keeping patients at the center.

MP3 is a unique type of platform. It is designed to identify and pilot shared ideas between institutions that deliver care and organizations that pay for care.

MP3 is designed to complement the important policy-focused efforts underway, including the Healey-Driscoll Administration’s Health Care Affordability Workgroup, the work of the Health Policy Commission, and other statewide collaborations.

Every MP3 success will represent innovation for Massachusetts healthcare – innovation that is patient-centered, partnership-driven, and action-oriented. The partnership will leverage the resources and expertise of its membership to advance and implement timely solutions.

WHO WE ARE

Leadership & Governance

Massachusetts is uniquely positioned to foster cross-sector partnerships like MP3. Unlike many other states, our commonwealth’s healthcare market is defined by local, trusted organizations with a deep understanding of local communities, the needs of patients, and a strong desire to partner around complex issues.

The size and makeup of MP3’s membership will enable the organization to be agile in identifying and implementing solutions nimbly and scaling them based on success.

MP3 is an affiliated but autonomous entity of the Massachusetts Health & Hospital Association.  It will begin meeting in early spring of 2026 to discuss its initial goals and areas of focus.
